About The Juice Box School
The Juice Box School was created from the shared belief that education should meet children where they are, be more reflective of the real, complex, and beautiful world they are growing up in, and, above all, be a joyful experience that fosters their innate curiosity.
Founded by a team of experienced educators, The Juice Box School is a microschool where learning is not rushed or standardized. Instead, it is nurtured through play, exploration, collaboration, and meaningful experiences that invite children to engage deeply with the world around them.
We are not just preparing children for the next grade. We are nurturing curious thinkers, compassionate humans, and confident individuals who know their voices matter.
At The Juice Box School, childhood is honored, learning is meaningful, and community is at the heart of it all.
Our Mission
To spark wonder and connection through child-led learning, storytelling, and real-world exploration while nurturing empathy, a connection to Earth, and the understanding that every voice matters.
Our Vision
We envision a more just, compassionate world where children are honored as capable, thoughtful individuals, allowing them to grow up with the confidence to ask questions, care for their communities, and create meaningful change.
Who We Are
-
At The Juice Box School, we believe children are already whole people. Our role is not to shape them into something new, but to support, guide, and honor who they already are, while helping them grow into thoughtful, compassionate members of the world.
We follow children’s interests, encourage deep thinking through play and storytelling, and create space for questions that don’t always have easy answers.
We believe learning happens everywhere, not just at a table or within four walls. Through city explorations and nature-based experiences, children engage with the real world in meaningful ways and our classrooms are alive with storytelling, art, nature, movement, and collaboration.
We are deeply committed to creating a space where every child and every family feels seen, respected, and valued. Our school welcomes families of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. We intentionally cultivate an environment rooted in inclusion, empathy, and social awareness, where children learn not only about themselves, but about caring for others and their communities.
-
At the heart of The Juice Box School is a commitment to inclusion, equity, diversity, and belonging.
We are intentional in our work to create a community that honors diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives. Through a commitment to social justice, advocacy, and a consciously decolonized curriculum, we strive to ensure that all children encounter stories, materials, and experiences that reflect both themselves and others.
We do not shy away from meaningful conversations. Instead, we support children in developing empathy, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility toward their communities and the world.
-
Nature is an essential part of our school experience.
Through regular time in our Forest School explorations, children build a relationship with the natural world, learning not only how to explore it, but how to care for it. Outdoor learning fosters resilience, creativity, collaboration, and a sense of wonder that cannot be replicated within four walls.
-
Our school was founded on the idea that learning should nourish children. When we imagined the kind of school we wanted to create, we kept returning to the ordinary things that make childhood meaningful: muddy boots, pockets full of treasures, outside adventures, creativity, laughter, and, most of all, connection.
A juice box felt like the perfect symbol because it represents care, nourishment, simplicity, and the magic of being little. It helps us all remember that childhood does not need to be rushed, overstructured, or performance driven to be meaningful.
